  1. This document contains tips for configuring Winvelope to operate
  2. with the following printers:
  3.  
  4.     HP Laserjet II/III (and most centerfeed compatibles)
  5.     HP Laserjet IIP/IIIP (and most sidefeed compatibles)
  6.     HP Laserjet 4
  7.     HP Deskjet 500/500c
  8.     HP Deskjet 550c
  9.     Various Dot Matrix Printers
  10.     High Capacity Envelope Feeders for various lasers
  11.  
  12. You will find additional information and margin settings in the
  13. documentation file, WV43DOC.WRI.

  17. HP LASERJET II/III & CENTER FEED COMPATIBLE INSTRUCTIONS:
  18.  
  19. Should work without special configuration.  Minor print margin
  20. adjustment to suit individual taste.

  24. HP LASERJET IIP/IIIP & SIDE FEED COMPATIBLE INSTRUCTIONS:

  26. Click the #10 envelope button (check table in WV43DOC.WRI for
  27. margin settings for other envelope sizes) on the left and then
  28. select 'Print Margins' under Winvelope's File menu.  Set the
  29. margins as follows:
  30.  
  31.     Return Top:    0.1
  32.     Return Left:    1.7
  33.  
  34.     Addressee Top:    1.6
  35.     Addressee Left:    6.0
  36.  
  37.     Message Top:    3.0
  38.     Message Left:    2.2

  41.     FIM Left:    8.3

  46. In Winvelope's Printing Defaults dialog, select:

  48.     (*) BIN 0 (or BIN 2 for MANUAL FEED PROMPT)
  49.     (*) LANDSCAPE
  50.     (*) NORMAL
  51.     (*) 300 dpi
  52.     [ ] Disable Winvelope's Printing Defaults (leave unchecked)

  55. In Windows Printer Setup, select:

  57.     Media Size     [LETTER 8-1/2 x 11]
  58.     Source        [UPPER] 
  59.             (or LOWER with optional paper cassette)

  61. You should now be able to print by clicking the Print Envelope

  66. HP LASERJET 4 INSTRUCTIONS:

  107. DESKJET 500/500C SERIES INSTRUCTIONS:

  109. Click the #10 envelope button on the left and then select 'Print
  110. Margins' under Winvelope's File menu.  Set the margins as follows:

  115.     Addressee Top:    1.8
  116.     Addressee Left:    4.0

  127. In Winvelope's Printing Defaults dialog, select:

  129.     (*) Use Windows Printer Setup to select paper source...
  130.     (*) PORTRAIT
  131.     (*) NORMAL
  132.     (*) 300 dpi
  133.     [x] Disable Winvelope's Printing Defaults

  135. Just prior to printing, click the Printer Setup button and select 
  136. ENVELOPE as the paper size.
  137.  
  138. Place envelope in tray and press the 'ENVELOPE' button on the
  139. deskjet printer, to draw the envelope into printing position.
  140. (this step is not necessary with some printer drivers)
  141.  
  142. You should now be able to print by clicking the Print Envelope 
  143. button.

  147. DESKJET 550c SERIES INSTRUCTIONS:

  149. Click the #10 envelope button on the left and then select 'Print
  150. Margins' under Winvelope's File menu.  Set the margins as follows:

  155.     Addressee Top:    2.5
  156.     Addressee Left:    4.0

  167. In Winvelope's Printing Defaults dialog, select:

  170.     (*) LANDSCAPE (If your printer driver does not recognize
  171.             the landscape setting here, set it from
  172.             Printer Setup button)
  173.     (*) NORMAL
  174.     (*) 300 dpi
  175.     [ ] Disable Winvelope's Printing Defaults (leave unchecked)

  178. Select LANDSCAPE for orientation and #10 ENVELOPE as the media
  179. size in Printer Setup.  (if you find that your printer driver
  180. recognizes the landscape setting in Winvelope's Printing Defaults
  181. dialog, you can skip setting it here)

  183. You should now be able to print by clicking the Print Envelope
  184. button.

  188. DOT MATRIX PRINTER INSTRUCTIONS:
  189.  
  190. Determine from your printer's documentation whether to print
  191. envelopes in portrait or landscape orientation.
  192.  
  193. Select the Business #10 envelope size template and then select 
  194. 'Print Margins' under Winvelope's File menu.  Set the margins 
  195. initially as follows:  (Values in inches)
  196.  
  197.     Return Top:    0
  198.     Return Left:    0
  199.  
  200.     Addressee Top:    1.8
  201.     Addressee Left:    4.0
  202.  
  203.     Message Top:    3.0
  204.     Message Left:    0

  212. Examine the diagram showing the correct location of POSTNET bar 
  213. codes in Winvelope's Help menu.  Print an envelope and adjust the 
  214. margin settings as necessary to obtain the desired effect.  Set 
  215. the margins for other envelope sizes in the same manner.

  217. In Winvelope's Printing Defaults dialog, select:
  218.  
  219.     (*) Use Windows Printer Setup to select paper source...
  220.     (*) PORTRAIT or LANDSCAPE (depending on printer model)
  221.     (*) NORMAL (24 pin printers) LIGHTER (9 pin printers)
  222.     (*) 300 dpi
  223.     [ ] Disable Winvelope's Printing Defaults (leave unchecked)

  226. In Windows Printer Setup, select:
  227.  
  228.     Media Size     [ENVELOPE #10, MONARCH, etc.]
  229.             (if your printer uses a sheet feeder as
  230.              opposed to continuous fanfold paper,
  231.              you may not have to change the media
  232.              size prior to printing.
  233.  
  234.     Source        [depends on printer]
  235.  
  236. If you disable your printer's PAPER OUT sensor, you can in most
  237. cases leave the Media Size to LETTER and save a step.

  239. You should now be able to print by clicking the Print Envelope
  240. button.

  244. HIGH CAPACITY ENVELOPE FEEDERS:
  245.  
  246. If you find that none of the BIN # settings in Winvelope's
  247. Printing Defaults dialog causes your special envelope 
  248. feeder/tray to feed, you will have to select...
  249.  
  250.     (*) Use Windows Printer Setup to select paper source...
  251.  
  252. and choose the correct setting from the Printer Setup button.
